In my room
Bay windows are wide open showing me the sandy beach. I am sitting in an oversized worn out leather chair that I can sink into. I can taste and feel a salty breeze blowing in from the windows. The slight hint of vanilla coffee, old books, and the sea fill the room. The colors of the sky in the midafternoon on a clear day fill the room. I can feel the sunlight as it washes over me through the windows. The air is turning from cool and comfortable to hot and sticky. There are pictures of the beach, beach quotes, and my family that line the walls. I can feel the soft, smooth material of my running shorts and my silky running shirt as it sticks to me after a long run. I’m by myself reading a thick novel. I have no obligations, nowhere to be, and waiting on no one. There are no clocks on the walls. Piles of books are stacked on end tables around me. Sea gulls call to one another outside the window.

Postcard:
Perusing the streets camera in hand,
Ascending the hundreds of stairs up the Eiffel Tower,
Resting at quaint cafes with a cappuccino pressed to your lips,
Inviting grassy parks with people strewn across the lawn,
Shadows from grand architecture everywhere you gaze.
Postcard:
In the city of Paris,
amongst the grand and beautiful architecture,
next to the Seine River,
rests the towering and majestic Eiffel Tower.
Poem of Opposites:
Tall things are beautiful: Short things are beautiful:
The London Eye moving ever so gently in the sky. Flowers blooming in Hyde Park.
The Shard building glimmering in the sun. Red phone booths lining the streets.
Big Ben chiming in the distance. Cold half pints fresh from the pub.
Tower of London blending into the sky. English tea with a splash of milk.
Westminster Abbey towering over Trafalgar Square. Street performers playing music by the river.

A Day in the Life of Poem with Pixlr:
Big Ben
Majestic towering clock,
Ticking, chiming, recording.
Fresh water from the Thames below,
Like a movie of life going by.
A fresh baguette as I watch the hands spin around,
Numbers, hands, time.
Brick, stone, and limestone cladding,
A monument of our fragile existence.
The bell chiming on the hour,
Tall, old, everlasting.
