Caroline Tucker
My name is Caroline Tucker. I am a Raleigh native and proud Wolfpack alum. I graduated from NC State in 2011 with a degree in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in Language Arts and Social Studies. I began working at Holly Ridge Middle School in the fall of the same year teaching eighth grade Language Arts as well as Speech & Debate and have been here ever since!
I also coach varsity cheerleading at St. David's School. This fall will mark the beginning of my fifth year working with the Warriors. This has been a great way for me to connect with students on a personal level and through a different lens.
On the weekends, you can usually catch me hanging out with my wonderful family and friends! I have two sisters, a step-sister, two step-brothers, and a sister-in-law as well as three nieces that I adore. I also love reading and getting recommendations from my students on the cool new books! :)
I am so excited to have the opportunity to travel abroad for my very first time with such an enthusiastic and creative group! I look forward to learning about promoting literacy through technology and writing and then incorporating these strategies in my classroom.

Pure awe seeing the Eiffel Tower with my own two eyes
As I sit at a cafe in the morning sun eating a Nutella crepe.
Riding down the Seine,
I take in the Notre Dame, the Louvre, and the sounds of the city
Sealing it in my memory until I return again.
Fast things are beautiful:
A train whizzing by at a speed that makes hair and scarves blow across faces Teenagers jostling down the street with colorful shopping bags Friendship formed immediately with a knowing smile Zooming cars around corners that make pedestrians look twice A whirlwind of adventure without a minute to feel homesick |
And slow things are beautiful:
Whiling the afternoon away with a hot cup of tea Pausing for a peaceful moment in the castle grounds Lingering one second longer at a beautiful portrait Sipping a cold cider with nowhere to be Cruising along the Seine, soaking in the French sun |

White Cliffs of Dover
Chalky white rocks stretch to sparkling turquoise water
Exploring, gazing, wondering
Earthy grass warmed by rays of afternoon sun
Like the edge of the world
Salty skin, cool drink
Crowning lighthouse, flitting butterflies among Queen Anne’s Lace
Spongy jade meadow and timeworn stones under tired feet
Standing sentry, a guard of the channel
Gulls cawing above, waves shimmering silently below
Heavenly, breathtaking, sublime
