Erin Lawrence
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry from Slippery Rock University and Master of Education degree, with a concentration in Secondary Education, also from Slippery Rock University, Pennsylvania. Four years ago I moved to North Carolina to take my current job teaching middle school science at Wake Forest Middle School. While in North Carolina I have been a part of some amazing programs including the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA) New Teacher Fellows program (2011-2012) and the Kenan Fellows Program (2013-2014)
I can not imagine teaching without technology. I love giving my students a project and watching them create something that surpasses my expectations. This is just one of the reasons I am excited for this program. I am also looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing all that England has to offer. I have done some traveling, but not overseas. This is such a unique experience and I am so thankful to be a part of it.

I am in my current apartment, but it has been relocated and transformed. The dwelling is small with a wall of windows. Through the windows I see a deck with a hammock. The sun climbs through the windows, filling the room with soft, natural light. A breeze blows through the slightly ajar sliding door and catches the soft, sheer white curtains, bringing them to life. Through the door I can hear the seagulls squawking for their next meal and waves crashing on the shore. The days are getting longer and I am finished with the school year. I just woke up after sleeping in and have a cup of coffee in my hand, still wearing my pajamas. I am getting ready to sit down to read on the chaise lounge part of the sectional sofa. The candle burning, smells like home, comforting and sweet. My room is full of plush seating and bargain furniture finds that have been transformed and personalized. On the walls you will find pictures of friends and family, telling a story. Among the framed memories you will find “beachy” artwork, which was commissioned from local artists. Calming colors of soft blues, pinks, greens and my favorite color, teal fill the room. I do not have anything pressing on the schedule, but will be meeting friends later.
