I'm Andrea, a former high school teacher turned elementary school counselor. I'm a school counselor at JY Joyner IB Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh, NC. I am a proud graduate of NC A&T State University (Aggie Pride) where I received my undergraduate degree in Business Education. After teaching a few years, I wanted to try another route in education which lead me to....school counseling! I received my Master's in School Counseling from NC Central University and completed a Post-Master's Certificate Program in School Counseling from UNC-Greensboro.
I work with students in grades K-5 and really enjoy what I do so much so that I write a blog for school counselors. I love using technology and am always looking for new and innovative ways to integrate tech into my counseling program. In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, exercising, fashion and traveling.
This is my very first time traveling abroad and I'm beyond excited about the opportunity!

Day in the Life Poem
Watercolor collage with hues of blue, green and white.
At first sight seems very intimidating, challenging; reasons it’s on my bucket list.
Reminders of wildflowers and wheat smell fill the air.
Refreshing like a rainbow after a storm.
Reminding me of the anticipation of tasting a dish that is only made for very special occasions.
Hill after hill, neighbors blue water that provide a backdrop for a spectacular lighthouse.
Step by step as the soil and rocks crunch beneath my Brooks.
The landscape of a grand palace.
Water waves say hello to the cliffs and they sway back and forth.
Amazing, natural beauty and tranquility that I am grateful to have experienced
