Greetings,
My name is Michael Cook, Assistant Professor of English at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, and I will be one of your instructors for this course. I have been fortunate to be involved with this project since its inception, and this summer will mark my fourth trip to England (in four years!!).
I taught high school English in Harnett and Sampson counties, right here in North Carolina. I have also taught English and English Education courses at Clemson University and this course, Integrating Writing and Technology, here at NCSU. Similarly, I’ve worked with two National Writing Project sites: the Capital Area Writing Project at NCSU and the Upstate Writing Project at Clemson.
I can honestly say from personal experience that this class is going to be a wonderful and educational experience for you all of you. England is a beautiful country, one full of culture and history, and we’ll be able to explore a great deal of it. We’ll also have the opportunity to share a wealth of technological and pedagogical resources and expertise. I expect we will each grow together as teachers of writing and as 21st century users and producers of technology/digital “texts.”
I look forward to working with everyone, and my hope is that I can offer each of you something to take back to your classroom.
Feel free to follow me on Twitter (@) or catch my Travel Blog by clicking on the link
Enjoy!!!
